Doris Vincent, B.Sc.(Psychology,) M.A. (History), M.Ed.(Psychology,) R. Psych. (1982), is the principal and Clinical Director of Recovery Path Counselling Ltd. providing services in Edmonton and Calgary.  She is a Registered Psychologist licensed in Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. Although semi-retired in Victoria since September of 2010, she continues to supervise the therapists at Recovery Path.  She also provides telephone and Skype counselling to select clients and supervision via Skype to provisional psychologists and sex therapists in training.

 

Ms. Vincent is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor, certified by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals in Carefree, AZ ( www.iitap.com.).  She began her training in 2000 with Dr. Patrick Carnes, the groundbreaking researcher in the field of sex addiction  (www.sexhelp.com).  In 2001 she became a supervisor for therapists in the process of certification through IITAP.


She continues to attend workshops on sex addiction and trauma.  As a member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health list-serve she contributes expertise and consults with hundreds of colleagues from all over North America on a daily basis.


Her commitment to public education on sex addiction is demonstrated in her appearances on radio and television,  including the on line TV program, Family Matters; newspaper interviews; and workshops for recovery groups.


She has reached the professional community through training presentations in Edmonton, workshops at treatment centers and conferences in Canada and the US, and lunch time presentations in the offices of mental health clinics and Employee Assistance Providers.  She also provided supervision and training at the Calgary Foothills Hospital Addiction center from 2007 to 2011.


Her interests include hiking, fitness, cooking, dancing, Canadian literature, yoga and spirituality.
